Day 1 ~The new eyes of 2014 - Polar Plunge

Jan 1, 2014

January 1st, always a day symbolizing newness and change, but change is inevitable, right? It's our only guarantee in this life.

Inspired by the book I Dare Me by Lu Ann Cahn, I will do something "instead" every day in 2014. I'm about 1/4 the way through the book and am already feeling a bit recharged. My life is good, but still missing that gut feeling of happiness and contentment...the kind that makes your throat tighten up and makes you want to dance or bust or both.

My instead: Tonight, because I lack an ocean or a lake, I am going to take a cold shower with my
Speedos on and then run out onto my deck in the cold and jump up and down like Rocky!

I am waiting for it to start snowing...come on snow! Of course, my tripod and camera will be ready to capture this momentous event and the beginning of a most interesting and stimulating year. It will happen because I am not TRYING it...I am DOING it. It's happening! No doubt...

I did it! The snow was right on time! Exhilarating!  The cold shower was the worst of it! Soaking wet, I ran outside onto my deck, set the camera timer, and shot away taking a bunch of photos of me "polarized"...the trials of having no mate to witness and be the camera person.  No big deal for a "seasoned" photographer!

My eyes are wide awake now and ready to see the world and me in new ways and with endless possibilities.

I declare my moratorium on mediocrity.
