Day 59 ~
Here’s Jesus!
Feb 28, 2014
My first:
I took my grandson Tyler to the movie to see “Son of God”.
And, yes,
I have taken my grandson to the movies before. I know what you’re thinking…this
can’t possibly be a first for Mary! So you’re correct! But it is a first for me
to take him to see such an intense and holy film. I’ve talked about it for
weeks beforehand that I wanted to take him to see it so that he would know the
sacrifice Jesus has made for him and all of us.
I picked
up Tyler in "my usual rush to make it to wherever on time". We made it to the
theater in O’Fallon IL five minutes before show time. He wanted some popcorn
and I wanted to see all the preview trailers, so we went our separate ways. I
found seats right smack-dab up front and center. The place was pretty much
filled up on this premier showing on a Friday night.
The movie
was pretty intense and followed closely to what I know about Jesus from my 12
years of a Catholic education. My thoughts were all over the place, especially with
being interrupted by Tyler pulling out one of his teeth during the movie! But the two thoughts that kept resurfacing were
how Jesus was received (or not) by the people back then and how He would be received
now. I think that people for the most part are pretty skeptical and that seeing
is believing. I question my own skepticism, although I can often be pretty gullible.
How would I be if He were here (in the flesh) right now?
But the
real question here is…Is He the Son of God? Well, we can live our life
believing that He was or believing that He was NOT…that He was just an
extraordinary man.
I believe
He was the Son of God and was filled with an everlasting love for us because I CHOOSE to believe…and, yes, He was an
extraordinary man…
