Day 239 ~ The Calm after the Storm

August 27, 2014

My Instead: I lay on my deck during a thunder storm and let the pouring rain have its way with me.

A storm was brewing outside. But that was okay because I was safe inside fixing myself a little supper. I was ready to break from the stress of having too much work and not enough time. Then the sky started falling. Thunder and lightning were part of the show too as I watched from my kitchen window…out of harm’s way.
The notion to step out onto my deck into this torrent was a bit daring, even for me in this adventurous year of “insteads”. I had already done the nude thing in a spring rain back in April. Should I take this to another level? Oh, well, why not! While “cats and dogs” were coming down, not to mention the fireworks display of thunder and lightning, I lay down on my deck…fully clothed this time. The rain shot at me like pellets, chilling me to the bone. Unfortunately, I had to keep my eyes closed, so I couldn’t totally enjoy the rain dance on my face. Why didn’t I wear goggles?
After about ten minutes of this dinnertime deluge, I decided it was time to throw in the towel and grab one as well! As I dried myself off, I giggled. The silliness of what I had just done made me laugh at myself. And the stress that I had felt earlier was washed away.
Laughter and peace…I’ll take those any day!
