My Instead: I weed whacked Annette’s yard.
The minute I first laid
eyes on Annette’s…YARD, I knew I would have a relationship with it. It needed
some TLC and I was just the one to give it. Her yard is huge and it has a lot
of beds. One thing that I’ve learned in the past 4 years of doing this physical
type work is that when you put a bed in your yard, you’d better be prepared to
take care of it. If not, get rid of it! That beautiful bed will become an
eyesore in no time flat, so what’s the point. Okay, I will step down off my
soap box now and continue with my story.
Now that Annette and I
are together, her yard is my domain. And I will work on it to the death! And
that is just what it might take. Her yard is huge and is, shall I say, too much
to take care of for one person! It’s no wonder that it’s gotten away from her lately,
especially knowing how priorities change as we get older.
The task that my weed
eater and I took on that day was a bit much, even for me and I am a seasoned
weed-whacker! But I forged ahead with no end in sight. Annette was right there
with me, mowing and cleaning up piles of weeds left in the wake of me and my
weed eater. By the end of the day, her yard was taking on the disguise somewhat
of a park. We were both impressed at the difference and looking forward to
doing more the next day…if my arms could hold out.
Working hard, seeing the
difference as you go, doing it for someone who sincerely appreciates your
efforts, giving suggestions that are taken seriously…these things are all part
of the harvest of a good day’s work at Annette’s. And I loved it. Who needs pay
anyway when you’re working for her…she always has an attitude of gratitude. I
wouldn’t even call it work!
