My instead: I finally posted
on Facebook about my not drinking alcohol, my "insteads", my blogging
and my future book.
I had just finished writing
a blog about my experience in Wal-Mart where I posed as an “invalid” with a
freshly-sprained ankle. It was one of my more interesting “insteads” (I
thought), so I bit the bullet and shared it on my Facebook page.
Putting my life on a
public blog was revealing enough for this small town girl. However, I had been hesitant
these last 5 months to mention ANYTHING on FB about what I’d been doing in 2014: not drinking alcohol, doing an “instead” every day and then all the
blogging. And now posting a link to all my stuff on Facebook! Now way! My honesty might be shocking! Well, at least to my
mother.
No
more covert operation. I’m OPEN! Open to judgment and open to criticism. Open
to all the daggers that the human species can throw. But will I ever know if
they’re actually reading any of the blogs? Will I ever know what they’re saying…good
or bad? Well, you know what they say…what you don’t know, can’t hurt you. Whew!
My
paranoia DOES come with some consolation though. If I have learned one thing about people and
what spews from their mouth, this would be it: People will talk about something
for a while, but they won’t talk about it forever. I found that out the hard
way, trust me.
I
guess I just have to keep them talkin’ until after my book is published!
