My instead: My grandson
Tyler and I went for a walk after a movie with buttered popcorn and a visit to
Cold Stone Creamery.
My grandson Tyler had
been gone for a week on a family vacation with my ex-husband’s relation and was
soon to leave for a week to be with his Grandma Carol. Tyler stays with his
grandma every year during vacation bible school week…or as he call it, VBS. Needless
to say, I was having Tyler withdrawals and needed to spend some quality time
with him.
“Million Dollar Arm” was
showing at the O’Fallon 15 Cine, so Tyler and I loaded up with a bucket of
buttered popcorn and settled back for a Sunday afternoon flic. After the movie,
we made a gluttonous trip to Cold Stone Creamery to get two free ice cream
creations (my sister manages the place). My belly was begging me to stop.
After our afternoon
excursions, I was supposed to drop off Tyler at Grandma Carol’s house and
normally I would have done that right after our ice cream break. However, “instead”
I suggested that we hit the trail, the walking trail, at the Shiloh Park. I
knew that Tyler was eager to get to his grandma’s because his cousins, Shawn
and Cal, were there waiting for him. Would he agree to delay those fun times with
them to go for a walk with me? Yes.
We walked and we talked
for two laps. Time spent. No phones, no video games, no TV. Just us.
