My instead: I had
breakfast and coffee in bed.
When the light comes in
the window, I might give myself a few minutes to rise to the occasion of a new
day. Then it’s feet to the floor and, of course, a run to the bathroom. I don’t
consider myself a regimented person, but making my bed is usually at the top of
my “to do” list in the morning…and I don’t even have a “to do” list. Making my
bed just helps in preventing me from crawling back under the covers.
But let the “instead”
begin! Coffee and breakfast in bed! Why not pretend like you’re living a life
of leisure…at least until you have to get up to get to work. That was the
advice I got from my slacker self. It
was my time to eat, drink and just be…Mary. I did sway from my slug morning and
completed a blog. (I had six to write to get up to date.)
My morning leave of absence
was about to vanish as reality pointed its finger of guilt at me. I raced out
of the house in an effort not to be late for my first appointment.
And my bed was left
unmade…
