Day 124 ~ It Worked

May 4, 2014
My instead: I met my daughter for a lunch meeting where she encouraged me to join "It Works" and start my own business.
My daughter Robin joined the It Works! Global team back in February after going to a “launch party” that my friend had. Since then she has been growing her business and herself! She is much more outgoing and focused! I love her as she was and as she is, but it is wonderful seeing her grow and have passion.
I attended that same “launch party” as Robin did, but was not really interested because of where I was with my “firsts” and my blogs and my life in general. Robin knew that and never pressured me. But then slowly I saw this growing knowledge and excitement change her in such a positive way. And I felt myself becoming curious. Then she started her attack! That’s a good thing. She could tell that I was open to listen again…pretty perceptive of her, I think!
I agreed to talk about it. “I want you to sell me”, I told her. “This is your chance to practice your spiel …on your mom!” We decided to meet at The Abbey Coffee House in west Belleville at noon. Of course, I was 20 minutes late, but I did let her know I was running behind. We sat outside on their patio since it was one of those days where you say “it doesn’t get any better than this”. We sat in the sun and ate sandwiches and chatted about this and that. Then we got down to business.
Robin explained how the tiers work and the initial costs to join. She also expounded on how the company does their payouts. That was very interesting how they do it and also generous to the distributors. Nice to know that regular people are making money instead of a few owners or a bunch of anonymous shareholders. Then she took the time to describe each of the products in as much detail as she knew. I was impressed! She was very knowledgeable for the short time she has had the business.
After a little more time of sitting in the warm sunshine and enjoying our time together, I said “Ok, let’s do this”. She said she would go home and do the work to get me enrolled and I would go home and power wash my deck. And we did just that.
I am looking forward to working with Robin and sharing our time. That is most important to me. And if I can supplement my Social Security income with this new business venture, so much the better!
