My
instead: I kept my promise and presented a photo to someone who had requested a
printed version instead of electronic.
On Cinco de Mayo, I went out to
lunch with my friend Norman at the Swansea Family Restaurant. I had asked the
server to take a picture of Norman and me so that I would have it for my blog.
The server then asked me to take a photo of him and Norman. I gladly obliged. After
all the picture taking was done, Norman and I ate our meals and were about
ready to leave when the server asked if I could get him a copy of the photo I
took of him and Norman. I agreed to do that for him.
I printed the picture of the two of
them, framed it and then went to the restaurant to present it to the nice young
man. I walked in and asked him if he remembered me? I reminded him that I had
come in there with Norman a couple of weeks ago. He acted like he remembered. I
said “Well, I promised to give this to you” and handed him the framed photo. He
was pleasantly surprised. He said “thank you very much” and then he asked how
much he owed me. I said that he did not have to pay me for that. I then asked the
other server to take our picture (again for my blog).
As I headed towards the door, he
said thank you again and I said “my pleasure”. I turned and snuck a peek at
him. He was smiling, looking at the picture and shaking his head like he couldn’t
believe that I had done that for him. I could feel the smile growing on my face
and in my heart.
